Our Approach

Bringing an “investment banking” style research proposition to corporate climate analysis.

Working to understand your most material challenges and your company engagement objectives is important to us.

We assess company transition plans and their alignment to a global pathway to net zero. By taking a long-term and bottom-up approach, we provide insightful knowledge, ensuring investors understand the gaps in data and can use this to inform company engagement.

Our research extends beyond individual companies, as we also compare and contrast peer performance across key benchmarks such as investment in low carbon and underlying emissions.

Highlighting key trends and opportunities for companies, enabling informed investor meetings and clear actions towards a sustainable future are all part of our offerings.

Our approach is focused on climate finance analysis that is:

Strategic
Up-to-date
Holistic

We are here to support your company engagements with informed conversations.

Let’s have a conversation with you to see how Accela can help.

Our Process

How are we different from other research organisations?

Specialists in providing investors with the latest financial performance and strategy analysis connected to climate.

We publish timely analysis for a portfolio of major oil and gas companies for key announcements and quarterly results.

Accela thoroughly analyses the data available to ensure our perspectives and conclusions are well-informed and reliable. Our valuable climate related insights are trusted by our clients.

In addition to our public research portfolio, we offer bespoke research for investor company engagements, answering the questions that are most important to them and validating their assumptions.

  • We assess the credibility of climate transition strategies, evaluating the alignment of a company's real-time financial performance and capital allocation strategy with their transition objectives.

  • We conduct a deep dive into any thematic climate question our clients have, to help contextualise the science behind a net zero transition.

  • We conduct peer benchmarking for any carbon intensive company you’re interested in, with consideration of financial metrics that influence climate transition plans.

Connecting climate & finance

Our Data

Accela’s research is independent of other climate benchmarks and based purely on company announcements, financial data and climate science.

We connect what companies are doing now and what that means for their long-term transition plans.

Our public-interest research is updated quarterly, with ad-hoc updates through the year to link any company announcements to their transition plans.

Companies within our public-interest portfolio are:

BP, Shell, TotalEnergies, Equinor, Eni, Woodside and Santos.

Global Company Coverage

Our coverage is global, as is the need to transition to a low carbon society. We believe taking a global view allows us to better identify gaps and opportunities for transition.

We currently provide company research on seven companies that operate across the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and integrated global companies.

We also monitor global oil and gas peers in the United States. We can assist investors with their company engagement analysis across a range of jurisdictions.

Questions?

  • Our public coverage currently addresses oil and gas companies. Accela began our work with coverage of European oil and gas majors. We will continue to expand coverage to look at companies in Australia and plan in the future to expand coverage to some companies in the United States. We cover other carbon-intensive sectors as part of our advisory services, and are always assessing options to expand our public research.

  • Our public coverage is available under “Our reports”, we will also publish advisory reports where our clients would like to make these reports available.

  • All of our analysis is based on publicly available information including company results, investor briefings, climate and energy data.

  • Yes. We provide continuously updated coverage of oil and gas companies as part of our public company transition research. This means each time there is a material announcement we will make sure you have access to updated data and views.
